Plans are underway to rationalize the port operations statewide through hubbing to create economies of scale. SBCP, which has taken over the container operations from Kota Kinabalu Port, is positioned as the premier transhipment hub for the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). A port of international standing, SBCP boasts of state-of-the-art facilities, the ability to handle more container volume, more efficient and effective operations adn greater competitive freight charges.
